Database Rebuild

Postby Kathy Jelinek » Thu Feb 18, 2010 4:24 am

 I have tried to do the database rebuild and Shepherds Staff says there is an error. No one else is in Shepherds Staff, Our tech guy made sure there is PLENTY of available space on my computer AND the server...which leads me to option 3...I left a message at Concordia...but can you tell me, is the database rebuild necessary? It gets to the compressing part when I get my error...

Thanks
Kathy

Greetings,

The database rebuild is not required. The utility does check your database for problems, and also compacts the database making it more compact. For these reasons we recommend you run the rebuild every 2 weeks. If the rebuild process fails, you will need to run the jetcomp utility. It can be found in C:\Program Files\Concordia Publishing House\Shepherds Staff folder. Inside that folder you will see a Doctor32.exe file. Double click the executable, click tools, click yes to the pop up window and click Run Jetcomp. Once the utility completes, you should be able to complete a rebuild successfully.
