Searching for Web Site Software

To All:

I have been diligently searching for a church/ church-school web site developer or application to create a new web site for our church. We really like Member Connect but feel that it should be the back-end if you will as it does not have the ability to create the "look and feel" of a very visual front end which will most likely be static web pages. Aside from the canned "template style" software that is almost always a hosted application, I am not finding much. I am certainly not finding anything that is web 2.0 enabled and or very current with technology which surprises me.

I was wondering if anyone out there could share expereiences and or let me know what you may have found to use ??
