A common question is how to submit your site to Google and what can you do to improve the page rank. Here is a great article with solid information on just that.

I looked at the linked article, but I am ignorant on the specifics steps that need to be taken to make a website show up on a search. Specifically, we have a Boar's Head festival and would like our web pages on the festival to show up on Yahoo and Google searches. What must I do to make that happen? I have been told that the meta-tag area on the pages are part of that process. Can you fill me in?

Melvin,

My suggestion would be to create a page just for the Boar's Head Festival. Then put all the details you can abou the festival, repeating the name Boar's Head Festival as much as you can, and as much that makes sense. Be sure to do this in text rather than graphics. When the search engines crawl your site they store the text on your page. I would also make sure the name and city of your church are on that page as well. Content of the page rules over meta tags in search. If you need additional help, please contact our support team at 800-346-6120.

Spoke with Mel on the phone about this as well. Sounds like he has created a page just for the festival; reviewed with him how to add some meta-tag information for this on its home page (much of which was noted in the linked article in original post), and again mentioned that he should follow the links on that page to submit the site for listing at Google and Yahoo.

For convenience, here is a repeat of the link from the original post:
