|
|
Due to some staff changes and (lack of) training issues. we are finding that our data in Member Connect is generally up to date, while Shepherd's Staff may not be.
We'd like to use Access to compare the data in the two different databases rather than doing it all manually. It's easy enough to link to data in Shepherd's Staff, or export it, but how can we export data from MemberConnect to a .csv file or some similar text file that can be imported into our own database, to use for comparison? We are thinking primarily about names, addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses.
Actual editing would be done in a separate step, later. |

There are two reports built in to MemberConnect that can export family data or member data to a .csv file.
First, make sure that your MC site has the reports button enabled. To check this, log on to site as an administrator, go to the Administration page. Under the Content Management heading, click Set security of built-in pages. On the following page, make sure that Reports is enabled (usually set to Group-Admin, so only administrators of the site may run the reports). Save the changes (click Save button at top or bottom of screen).
On the main menu, go to Reports.
Click the Gen button at the top of the page.
For the family report, click the + button next to Familes_In_Org_List1 CSV formatted report. For the member report, click the + button next to Members_In_Org_List1 CSV formatted report.
No matter which report you chose, on the next page (Generate a Report), click the Generate Report button.
The report will likely take a few minutes to generate. You can wait and click the Refresh button on the reports screen until the Created on column is filled in (and the paper icon appears next to the wanted report name), or you can come back to the Reports menu in a short while. Clicking the paper icon next to the name of the report will give you options to open or save the report. |

Thank you very much! I got the files I need.
I should mention, though, that refreshing did not bring up the paper icon, even after I got sidetracked for half an hour. I had to navigate away from the page and return to find the completed file. I am using Vista Home Basic with service pack 2 and Firefox 3.6.3. |

Glad to hear you got the reports you wanted.
As far as the refresh button goes, depending on your browser's cache settings, it is entirely possible that you may need to navigate away from the page then come back to the Reports page to see the generated report. |
