Could you please explain the purpose of having the preferred name field? I would haved assumed adding a preferred name would replace the display of the first name, but I can't see any display where this is the case.
It is particularly frustrating when trying to add members to a group when the father and son have the same name.
The only thing I see to do is to replace the first name with the preferred name which makes the preferred field completely unnecessary. |

The preferred name field is, as you have noted, not used for the most part in MemberConnect. For churches who use both Shepherd's Staff and MemberConnect, it is a part of the personal information which is uploaded from Shepherd's Staff to MemberConnect.
As you've noted, MemberConnect uses the first name field on almost all of its screens and information pages. So, if you are trying to distinguish between two people (whether related or not) with similar names, using unique first names will assist you in distinguishing between the two people. |
